Style Social at the Mayor of Blackburn's Charity Ball CIVIC CELEBRATIONS CIVIC leaders from across the North West joined other distinguished guests at The Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council's Charity Ball. The prestigious event was held at King George's Hall in Blackburn and the borough's Mayor, Coun. Peter Greenwood and his wife, Dorothy, entertained fellow Mayors and Mayoresses from neighbouring authorities stretching as far as Liverpool. Other guests included representatives from the Chamber of Trade and Blackburn College Following a reception in Blakeys bar, the civic leaders joined the other parties in the main hall. A buffet meal was served and entertainment was provided by youngsters from Great Harwood-based Kids & Co. The Colin Hilton Dixeland Ensemble with Roy Chappell provided the musical accompaniment for the ball room dancing. A raffle and auction of goods donated by local businesses was organised by the Mayoress's Committee and the night rounded off with a disco by Mike and Shah. Money raised from the event will be spilt between various charities.
