Repairing telephone systems
Tony's all revved up! Boss buys UK's most expensive Harley for launch BIKE enthusiast Tony Raynor has bought the UK's most expensive Harley Davidson to launch his company's new express maintenance service. Tony, 43, managing director of Blackburn's Abbey Telecom, bought the exclusive Screamin' Eagle Electra Glide, worth £21,000, from Harley Davidson Custom Vehicle Operations in the US. And Tony has had further engine modifications made on the 1690cc bike, giving it a top speed of 145mph. making it one of the most powerful Harley Davidsons in the UK. The bike will be used by Tony as part of his new motorcycle-based service, aimed at repairing telephone systems for clients across the UK with specialist equipment in a quicker time. Tony, who is also president of the East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce and chairman of the Blackburn and District Enterprise Trust, said: When I realised there'd only be six Screamin' Eagles Imported into the UK I knew we had the perfect vehicle. The Harley will mean we can get to customers faster and more efficiently. We have an expensive piece of equipment called a Trend tester that enables us to identify faults on ISDN lines. It tells us quickly whether there is a fault with the phone system or the BT line. But it's no good keeping it in one of our vans that's out on the road somewhere when we need it for a client at the other side of country, so we keep it in the office. That's where me and the Harley come in! So will Tony be letting all his staff use the machine? Absolutely not! I'll be the only one driving it because I don't trust any of them to handle it! quipped Tony, who has owned three Harieys. EASY RIDER: Tony Raynor, will get to clients needing the Trend tester quickly on his new £21,000 Screamin' Eagle Harley Davidson.
